[Update 22/11/2025: The Harbour Trust has been working closely with NSW Police and the NSW Government’s New Year’s Eve organising committee and can confirm the New Year’s Eve event on Cockatoo Island will go ahead as planned.
Only visitors who have purchased a ticket for an overnight stay will be permitted to attend the New Year’s Eve experience. While we would like to assure your safety is our top priority, with measures in place including but not limited to bag checks on arrival and an increased security presence throughout the event, we kindly ask that all visitors attend at their own discretion.
Please note, the island will be closed for general visitation on 31 December 2025.

As a guest in our waterfront campground – or one of our houses or apartments – you’ll be close to the action but far from the crowds! That’s right, you’ll get to bask in the city's world-famous end-of-year fireworks as you unwind in in an iconic setting with friends and family. Plus: There will be entertainment and fun activities for all guests. What a way to ring in 2026!
Note: Due to capacity limits and reduced ferries, access to the island on Wednesday 31 December is restricted to people who’ve made an accommodation booking. Nearby Woolwich will remain open to the public on New Year’s Eve as a vantage point for the fireworks.
Our NYE camping packages are now on sale! There are multiple options to choose from – catering for different preferences, budgets and group sizes.
Choose to stay on the island's Eastern Apron (Harbour Bridge view) or Northern Apron (Woolwich view), either in a pre-erected tent or one you've brough from home.
Camping packages with pre-erected tents start at $620 + booking fee, while the BYO tent option is available from $550 + booking fee.
A minimum 2-night stay applies to campground reservations – NYE guests will arrive on Tuesday 30 December 2025 and depart on Thursday 1 January 2026.
The ballot to hire one (or more) of our holiday houses or apartments during the New Year’s Eve period is NOW CLOSED.
The winning entrants were notified by 5pm AEST on 19 September. Together with their group, they will spend 4 nights in one our charming holiday houses or apartments. The price for a 4-night stay (minimum) in one of our houses or apartments ranged from $3,200 to $10,000. Eight houses and apartments were offered as part of our ballot and entrants could apply for multiple properties.

Cockatoo Island’s 2 cafes – Marina Cafe & Bar and Cockatoo Overboard – will both serve food and beverage on New Year’s Eve (31 December).
