Cockatoo Island offers you one of the world's great camping experiences. Whether you're a backpacker looking for a unique alternative to youth hostels, a first-time camping couple, or seasoned family campers, you'll have amazing views from your tent near the water's edge. Just minutes from the CBD by ferry, you'll feel like you're away from it all when you sleep under the stars in the middle of Sydney Harbour.

All campers have access to our hot showers, and communal camp kitchen with ten BBQs, fridges, microwaves and a boiling water system. 

Ways to camp:

Camping package

With the tent, mattresses and camping chairs already set up for you, this option is perfect if you crave a camping adventure without the hard work.

Our tents are ideal for up to two adults and two small children, or 3 adults.

What's included:

  • One pre-erected tent (2.4m x 2.4m)
  • Two camping mattresses
  • Two chairs

What you'll need to bring:

​If you need anything else, our campground offers a range of products for hire, from extra mattresses ($10 per night) to sundry food items, toiletries, campers packs and sleeping bags to purchase. Our staff are here to help with anything you might need - just ask us.

Monday to Thursday: From $89 per night 
Friday to Sunday: From $99 per night

Camping Sites (you bring your own tent)

The ideal option if you have your own tent and camping gear, and just want to experience our unique location.

What's included:

  • An unpowered 4m x 4m site

Monday to Thursday: From $45 per night 
Friday to Sunday: From $50 per night

Check-in from 2:00pm; check-out 10:00am


The campground is wheelchair accessible, with a disabled shower and toilet available. Please be aware, however, that the tents have a step to enter, which is not suitable for wheelchair access. To discuss accessibility please contact
