New Year’s Eve at Cockatoo Island is a chance to celebrate a new dawn with loved ones in a historic setting on the world’s best harbour. As either a camper or guest in one of our charming houses or apartments, you’ll spend the biggest night of the year close to the action… but far from the crowds! Not only will you get to stay in award-winning accommodation, you’ll also get to bask in the city's world famous NYE fireworks.

[Note: Due to capacity limits and reduced ferry services, access to the island on Sunday 31 December is restricted to those with an accommodation booking. Nearby Woolwich will remain open to the general public on New Year’s Eve as a vantage point for the fireworks.]

Here are some of the reasons to book camping with us for New Year’s Eve:
The ballot to hire one (or more) of our heritage houses or apartments during the New Year’s Eve period is NOW CLOSED.
The winning entrants secured the opportunity to spend 4 nights celebrating with friends and family in a charming house or apartment, steeped in history. The price for a 4 night stay (minimum) in one of our houses or apartments ranged from $3,000 to $9,500 (GST inclusive). Seven houses and apartments were offered as part of our ballot and entrants could apply for multiple properties.
[Note: Check-in for all houses and apartments is from 3pm on Friday 29 December 2023 and check-out is by 11am on Tuesday 2 January 2024.]
Cockatoo Island’s 2 cafés – Marina Café & Bar and Cockatoo Overboard – will both be serving food and beverage on New Year’s Eve (31 December).
Located alongside Camber Wharf, Marina Café & Bar will serve New Year’s Eve guests as per the below times:
[*Note: On 1 January, the venue will be closed and instead, Marina Café & Bar will serve a special NYE breakfast menu from 7am to 10am in the Navel Store.]
A short stroll from the ferry wharf, Cockatoo Overboard will serve New Year’s Eve guests as per the below times:
