Featuring exposed steel beams, cathedral-like ceilings and sandstone details, the interconnected buildings that make up this historic precinct boast a gritty industrial character that will transport event attendees to the island's storied maritime era.
Cockatoo Island has an important legacy as a shipbuilding and ship repair facility, and contributed significantly to Australia’s maritime affairs between 1857 and 1991.
The Industrial Precinct is a window into this significant 134-year slice of history and features three event venues: the Turbine Shop, Naval store and Convict Workshops.
Location: Buildings 137, 150 and 153
Capacity: 2000 people (cocktail event) or 850 people (seated)
Size: 717.02m² (Building 137), 2138.40m² (Building 150) and 293.99m² (Building 153)
Hours of use: 7am to 11pm
Toilets: There are facilities for nine males and six females in the Turbine Shop (Building 150). There are also facilities for 13 males and eight females in Building 119, located a short distance from the Turbine Shop.
Accessibility: The Turbine Shop provides access for people with a mobility impairment. The nearest accessible toilets are located near the campground.
Location: Building 124
Capacity: 200 people (cocktail event) or 150 people (seated)
Size: 224.2m² (Building 124) and 100m² (waterfront area)
Hours of use: 7am to 11pm
Toilets: There are facilities for 13 males and eight females in Building 119, located a short distance from the Naval Store.
Accessibility: The Naval Store provides access for people with a mobility impairment. The nearest accessible toilets are located near the campground.
Location: Building 138
Capacity: Up to 500 people
Size: 773m²
Hours of Use: 7am to 11pm
Toilets: There are six male and six female toilets in Building 150, and 13 male and eight female toilets in Building 119.
