These stakeholders contribute enormously to the Harbour Trust’s vision for Cockatoo Island through their ongoing advocacy work and active participation in our public consultation processes and volunteer program.
The Harbour Trust regularly seeks the views of the public to ensure community expectations around the use of our lands, including Cockatoo Island, are met. Our community noticeboard, public comment and exhibition periods, advisory committees and online feedback form are some of the channels through which we consult with the public.
If you’re fascinated by the history of Cockatoo Island or simply want to give back to the community, we invite you to consider the Harbour Trust’s volunteer program. From greeting people and facilitating tours through to maintaining the island’s natural and heritage values, our volunteers help us to deliver a great visitor experience.
We are currently taking sponsorship requests from community groups and organisations. In exchange for being made an event sponsor, we can offer vouchers for Cockatoo Island’s waterfront campground.
