The island's spectacular built and natural landscape, convict past and industrial heritage combine to provide students with an engaging and memorable learning experience on Sydney Harbour.

Excursion programs on Cockatoo Island support students studying a range of subjects across the primary and secondary curriculum. Programs are delivered by experienced teachers and resource materials are available to support both pre- and post-visit learning.

School Holiday Program: Machines of Cockatoo

Explore the weird and wonderful world of machines on Cockatoo Island these school holidays. In this new program, children can discover the island's giant cranes, and design and build their own machine. Further inforamtion on Vacation Care programs.

Secondary Visual Arts Workshop: Machines and Manifestos

In this artist-led workshop, students will explore the rich visual landscape of Cockatoo Island's industrial past. Giant cranes, abandoned ship-building machinery, historic slip-ways and docks provide inspiration for a sculptural construction workshop that references the work of the Futurists, their manifesto and love of the machine.
