Vacation Care groups can participate in guided programs on Cockatoo Island each school holidays.

Bring your Vacation Care group to Cockatoo Island, Sydney’s largest and most fascinating urban island. A short ferry trip from Circular Quay turns a journey into an adventure.

Cockatoo Island sits on the periphery of the city, a site replete with memory and history. Discover Cockatoo Island with our engaging vacation care program. Our experienced guides will take your group on a 2 hr tour of the Island exploring the many aspects of its history, travelling through 175 years of stories. You will experience the escapades of the early convicts through fun and physical games, shadow puppetry and performance as well as nautical themed craft activities. A fun day out that is not to be missed. The unique experience of Cockatoo Island makes this a vacation excursion kids will remember.

Dates:  16 December 2015 - 28 January 2016
Time: 11:30am tour commences on Cockatoo Island and concludes at 1.30pm.
Cost: $12 per child. (price does not include ferry travel) 
One supervising adult per ten children free of charge. Minimum 10 and maximum 100 students per booking.

General information for Vacation Care visits

You can catch a ferry to Cockatoo Island from the number 5 wharf at Circular Quay. This service also stops at Balmain, Birchgrove, Greenwich Point and Woolwich. Ferries also travel from the inner western suburbs down Parramatta River.

Please consult the NSW Transport Information website at Transport NSW to plan your trip accordingly. Group ferry tickets can be booked through Harbour City Ferries on (02) 8113 3011.

What to bring

There is a cafe on the Island or you can bring your own lunch and enjoy the picnic atmosphere. Please bring a water bottle.

Wear sunscreen, a hat and comfortable shoes. We will still operate in wet weather conditions so come prepared with wet weather gear. Tours will be cancelled and rescheduled in extreme weather conditions.
