Cockatoo Island has been used for incarceration, ship building and engineering and this diverse activity is reflected in its buildings and infrastructure. Many of the existing facilities on Cockatoo Island are now available for adaptive re-use. Transport

Cockatoo Island is just 8 minutes ferry ride from Sydney's CBD. It has a new marina with berthing facilities for public use and there are two ferry wharves available for pick up and drop off by water taxis and private vessels. Maritime Facilities

A wide range of maritime facilities exist on the southern side of the island including a collection of workshops, offices and stores from 40 m² to 1200 m² arranged around two former dry docks and extensive wharfage, slipways and hardstand. Water rights extend approximately 25 m² from the shoreline. These facilities await renovation and would ideally suit established maritime operators and associated marine services.
